Courtside Fashion at The Rogers Cup

Courtside Fashion at The Rogers Cup

Hello Lovely,

As you may know from my last blog post, I attended the Rogers Cup and saw Rafael Nadal play live! It was an incredible experience. Leading up to the day, I browsed the internet to try and figure out what the appropriate attire was to watch a tennis match. To be honest, I didn’t find a lot of useful information relating specifically to the Rogers Cup. I did, however, have a tremendous amount of fun looking at vintage photographs from fashion magazines. In these photographs, models were styled for courtside tennis watching in interesting and creative ways. It got my creative juices flowing and I spent some time thinking about different outfits.

I have a few friends who have attended the Rogers Cup in the past. They told me that it was actually quite relaxed and that nobody really dressed up. This dampened my spirit a little, but not for long. I went shopping with my friend and we spent the whole day at Yorkdale Mall looking for something that would work. I found a few things at Club Monaco and Zara. One item I ordered online from Nordstrom. The rest I pulled from my own wardrobe to put together some looks. I settled on three looks from which to decide.

Without further ado, here they are:

Look 1

Wearing:

Sunglass | Celine

Watch | Olivia Burton

Bag | Ralph Lauren Polo

Top | H&M

Paperbag Shorts | Zara

Shoes | Comme des Garçons PLAY x Converse Chuck Taylor®

Look 2

Wearing:

Top | Club Monaco

Sunglasses | Celine

Watch | Olivia Burton

Shorts | Zara

Shoes | Comme des Garçons PLAY x Converse Chuck Taylor®

Look 3

Wearing:

Top | Club Monaco

Sunglasses | Celine

Watch | Olivia Burton

Shorts | Club Monaco

Shoes | Comme des Garçons PLAY x Converse Chuck Taylor®

I created three looks while keeping the accessories the same and swapping out the shorts and tops. All three looks are quite simple and easy to achieve. I chose the Comme des Garçons PLAY x Converse Chuck Taylor® sneakers because Comme des Garçons’s famous heart-and-eyes motif against the white canvas of the sneaker makes for a fun and playful touch to all three of the outfits. In Look 2 and 3, I found that simply changing from crochet shorts to striped paper bag shorts created a different feel to the look. I think all three of the looks work well and they’re all comfortable. You can take a peek at my last post to see which outfit I ended up wearing.

Fashionably Yours,

Arisa
